Reliability Analysis of the Swiss High Voltage Transmission System

This work analyzes the reliability of the Swiss High Voltage Transmission System
(380kV and 220kV transmission lines). To do so, an agent based modelling approach
was used, where the different elements of a transmission system, i.e. generator, loads,
transmission lines and grid operator, were modelled as agents with specific charac-
teristics and behavior. The implemented model was compared with other, similar
studies which were carried out with respect to the Swiss High Voltage Transmission
System, to get an idea on the plausibility of the model approach and the obtained
results. Some of these results are explained in more detail, and in a final part the
Swiss Transmission Grid in its present topology is compared with different scenarios,
according to which the grid might be developed in the future.
